About

Experienced Leadership. A Practical Approach.

Growing companies eventually reach a point where the operating model that fueled their growth is no longer sufficient for what comes next.

Decisions get harder. Responsibilities overlap. Marketing, operations, and people issues compete for the same attention. The business needs experienced leadership, but adding several full-time executives may not make sense.

That’s where Diablo Moon Marketing can assist.

We work alongside owners and leadership teams to identify what’s slowing the business down, set priorities, and help turn decisions into action.

Our Team

Meet the Mooneys

Diablo Moon Marketing brings together Jim, Barbara and Seamus Mooney with experience in Growth & Marketing, People & Leadership, and Operations; the three main areas that impact a growing business.

We work with the team you already have, get close enough to understand what’s actually happening, and focus our time where experienced leadership can make a difference.

Jim Mooney

Growth & Marketing

Jim leads Diablo Moon’s Growth & Marketing practice, helping businesses connect marketing decisions to larger business goals.

He spent nearly a decade in regional marketing leadership at McDonald’s from 2005 to 2014. He later served as VP and Account Director at H&L Partners from 2014 to 2017, leading agency accounts for national and regional brands.

Jim founded Diablo Moon Marketing in 2018 to bring that experience directly to growing businesses.

Today, his work includes marketing strategy, demand generation, sales and marketing alignment, budget planning, agency and vendor management, digital visibility, and executive reporting.

Jim helps leadership decide where to focus, what deserves investment, and how marketing can better support the company’s goals.

Barbara Mooney

People & Leadership

Barbara leads Diablo Moon’s People & Leadership practice, working with owners, executives, and managers to build stronger teams and create workplaces where people understand what’s expected of them and have the support to do their jobs well.

Her background combines executive leadership, training, education, and organizational development. She has served as an executive leader for national private schools and helped lead a national Montessori training academy. She is also a national trainer and keynote speaker.

Barbara is a certified Jon Gordon Energy Bus trainer and a certified Differentiated Instruction trainer. She earned her degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Throughout her career, Barbara’s work has centered on a straightforward idea: strong organizations depend on strong connections between people.

At Diablo Moon, she applies that experience to the challenges growing companies face as teams get larger and leadership becomes more complex. Her work can include leadership development, communication, accountability, team dynamics, culture, and helping managers become more effective in their roles.

Barbara brings a practical approach to people issues. The goal isn’t to introduce another management theory or program. It’s to understand what’s happening inside the organization and give leaders useful ways to improve how their teams work together.

Seamus Mooney

Operations

Seamus Mooney is an entrepreneur, business operator, and consultant who brings energy, practicality, and a people-first mindset to helping organizations grow.

As an Owner-Operator of Minuteman Press Clark, Seamus has experienced firsthand what it takes to build a business from the ground up. Since opening in 2018, the company has grown from zero customers to serving more than 2,500+ clients. Along the way, Seamus has worked across nearly every area of the business – from sales, operations, customer experience, and vendor management to marketing, financial performance, technology, and process improvement.

His approach at Diablo Moon Marketing is rooted in that real-world experience. Seamus believes strong businesses are built by creating clear expectations, practical systems, genuine relationships, and cultures where people understand both what they are responsible for and why their work matters.

Before becoming a business owner, Seamus worked in education and recruiting, where he was regularly tasked with building and improving processes. His experience includes overhauling admissions and sales operations, developing CRM systems, writing operational playbooks, creating new departments, and designing strategies for attracting and retaining talent.

At Diablo Moon Marketing, Seamus works with leaders and teams on the intersection of operations, sales, culture, accountability, client experience, and growth. He has a particular ability to look at how an organization actually operates day to day, identify internal and external pain points, and turn big-picture goals into clear, actionable next steps.

Known for his sense of urgency, relationship-building skills, and direct but approachable style, Seamus brings a simple philosophy to every engagement: great ideas matter, but execution is what moves a business forward.

Three Areas. One Business.

Marketing, operations, and people problems rarely stay in separate lanes.

A company can generate plenty of leads and still struggle because its sales process isn’t working. Growth can expose inefficient processes that were manageable when the business was smaller. A good strategy can stall when responsibilities aren’t clear or managers don’t have the support they need.

Diablo Moon Marketing brings these perspectives together.

Our fractional leadership model gives growing businesses access to experienced support across Growth & Marketing, People & Leadership, and Operations. We start with the area that needs attention and bring in additional expertise when the business calls for it.

You get experienced leadership around the table without having to build a full executive team before you’re ready.

How We Work

Start With the Business

Before recommending anything, we take the time to understand where the company is going, what’s happening today, and what’s getting in the way.

Keep It Direct

We explain what we see, what we recommend, and why. No unnecessary jargon or complicated frameworks.

Work With Your Team

We're there to strengthen the business you already have. That means working with your employees, managers, agencies, vendors, and other partners rather than operating around them.

Stay Involved

Advice has limited value if no one owns the next steps. We remain involved as priorities are set, decisions are made, and the work moves forward.

Why Diablo Moon Marketing?

Maybe growth has slowed. Marketing isn’t producing enough opportunities. Your processes haven’t kept up with the size of the business. Managers are stretched thin. Communication is breaking down. Or you’re spending too much of your own time solving problems that someone else should own.

That’s where an outside leadership perspective can help.

Diablo Moon Marketing helps identify what’s getting in the way and brings the right experience into the business to address it.

Let's Talk About What's Next

You don’t need to have the problem completely figured out before we talk.

Tell us what’s happening in the business, where you’re getting stuck, and what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll start there.
